Buranarumluk School joins the Thinking School Network in Asia

TSIA is delighted to welcome Buranarumluk School in the Southern Thai Province of Trang to the network of schools in the Thinking School Programme. A series of training events delivered by TSIA trainers has taken place during this academic year, including a recent visit by some of the Drive Team at Buranarumluk School to Amnuay Silpa School, Bangkok – the First Thinking School in Asia and the Hub of Excellence for TSIA.

Two further Thai schools are expected to join the programme in the coming academic year in May 2016.

Questioning for Enquiry

On the 21st November the CEO of TSIA visited Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jalan Empat in Malaysia to observe that progress that had been made with implementing a Whole School approach to Thinking. One day training was also provided to all staff on the use of questioning and Enquiry Based Learning.  The school hopes to move towards accreditation in the next 12-18 months.

 

Developing a Network of Schools

On 1st and 2nd June, Amnuay Silpa School hosted a group of 25 Secondary School Principals from Malaysia. The delegates, who are all members of the Majlis Pengetua Cemerlang Kebangsaan group of schools, participated in the one day Growing Thinking Schools workshop and seminar.  The visitors were also undertook a number of classroom observations at ANS which has become the hub of excellence for the Thinking Programme here in South East Asia.

TSIA in Thai Education 2014

Joseph Pine, Principal of Amnuay Silpa School (First Thinking School in Asia) & CEO of TSIA, presented the TSIA approach to improving thinking skills to Chaturon Chaisang the Education Minister at the “Thai Education 2014 : Come & Learn Together,” event at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. The event was held over three days commencing on 3rd May 2014.

TSI-Asia reaches out to Malaysia

Following a recent visit of a group of delegates from JESS school, Selangor, Malaysia to Amnuay Silpa School, Bangkok, TSI-Asia CEO Joseph Pine was invited to deliver a workshop in Malaysia. The topic of the training was, ‘An introduction to the Habits of Mind’ and was delivered to over 120 teachers and administrators at the Universiti Kebangsaan, Selangor. In attendance were over 80 teachers from JESS, many of whom had visited ANS school in November, along with School Principals from around 30 other schools across Malaysia. Many of the schools attending are either already part of the 1000 schools in the 2nd phase of the I-Think Malaysian Government Thinking Programme or will be part of Phase 3.

Hello Magazine

In February 2013 the successful new partnership between TSI and Amnuay Silpa School Thailand was officially unveiled during a press launch at the Novotel Hotel, Bangkok. The new company, Thinking Schools International – Asia, officially unveiled its plans to a large audience of educationalists including the Former Minister of Education in Thailand, representatives from the National Council for Education, University Lecturers and teachers. The official signing was captured in a recent issue of Hello magazine, Thailand.
